75 years – 75 choirs sing human rights 2023 is a project for choirs to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). You can read it, but you can also sing it.
The singers of 75 choirs will lift their voice for human rights while singing human rights. They voice every human right – their and everyone’s human rights. Your choir can be part of this project and be one of the first choirs performing this new piece of music for the first time.
In 2023 75 choirs will perform 75 concerts at 75 venues world wide, singing the UDHR accompagnied by a symphony orchestra, because 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the UDHR. The composer Axel Christian Schullz, set the original wording of the UN document to music. Catchy tunes for a legal document which describes the rights and freedoms every human being in the world owns.
In early spring 2023 all conductors of the participating choirs meet in Berlin, Germany to talk about the work and about human rights, and to premiere the piece under the baton of the composer.
Before the anniversary, all sheet music will be made freely available for everyone online. Then anyone can download, perform and rearrange these human rights compositions. We plan to perform the work with everyone around the world using live streaming on Dec. 10th 2023.
